Fuel economy is predictably forgettable, but maximum versatility may seem a small price to pay to tow a boat and transport a family of eight simultaneously.

1st
2024 GMC Yukon
Redesigned 2021
Price: $60,000-$101,245

If the 2024 GMC Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL seem very similar to the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, that's because they are. Cut from the same giant cloth, the full-size Yukon lives up to its Chevy counterparts, providing the same passenger and cargo options, but designed to portray a more stylish lifestyle. Inside, there are three rows of seats and can accommodate up to eight passengers. The base engine is a 355-horsepower V-8, but a larger 420-horsepower V-8 is available. For the best fuel economy, choose the turbodiesel inline-six with an EPA-estimated 27 mpg. Despite relatively luxurious prices for the top trim, even the Denali and Denali Ultimate versions of the Yukon can't match the opulence exemplified by the Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator. Instead, the Yukon and Yukon XL shine in their mid-level SLT and AT4 trims as slightly raised variants of their Chevrolet siblings.

2nd
2024 Nissan Armada
Redesigned 2017
MSRP Range: $55,450 - $70,520

The 2024 Nissan Armada is a full-size three-row SUV that stands above the Pathfinder three-row crossover. It is among the few remaining SUVs with a truck-based design, utilizing body-on-frame construction and a robust V8 engine. With seating for seven or eight passengers, depending on your preference, the Armada offers ample space for cargo when the rear seats are folded down. For those seeking a traditional large sport utility vehicle, the Armada could be an ideal choice.

3rd
2024 Chevy Tahoe
Redesigned 2021
MSRP Range: $55,105 - $87,545

The full-size Chevrolet Tahoe has a lot to offer. It can seat up to eight people and comes with three different powertrain options that can be paired with either rear- or four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a smooth 355-hp V-8, while the larger 420-hp V-8 offers more power. For those prioritizing fuel efficiency, the turbocharged Duramax diesel is a great option. As with its extended Suburban counterpart, all Tahoes have three rows of seats and can be customized with features like all-terrain tires and adjustable air suspension for improved driving capabilities. If you're looking for a slightly different version of the Tahoe, the GMC Yukon offers similar top-of-the-line features in a slightly fancier package.

4th
2024 Ford Expedition
Redesigned 2018
MSRP Range: $55,105 - $87,545

The 2024 Expedition is Ford's biggest and most capable SUV. Its truck-based construction gives it a lot more capability than large three-row crossovers like the Honda Pilot and Volkswagen Atlas. It can tow up to 9,300 pounds, while unibody rivals like the Pilot and Atlas can only tow about 5,000 pounds. For a large three-row SUV that can haul big ski boats or heavy campers, the Expedition is a great choice.

5th
2024 Toyota Sequoia
Redesigned 2023
MSRP Range: $60,875 - $80,865

In recent years, Toyota's main SUV has been overshadowed by newer, more capable options. However, last year marked a significant change with the release of the third-generation Sequoia. Similar to its previous models, this version remains a truck-based three-row SUV - the ideal choice for those in need of space for passengers and heavy towing capabilities. The Sequoia's turbocharged hybrid V6 engine is robust and enables it to tow over 9,000 pounds when properly set up.
