 2025 BMW 4-Series

 Starting at $51,695

As the two-door counterpart to the celebrated 3-Series sedan, the BMW 4-Series has much to live up to. Thankfully, its powertrains don’t disappoint: 430i models are powered by a 255-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that has seen numerous revisions for 2025, as well as the addition of a 48-volt hybrid system to add a little urgency to its low-speed response. The M440i is powered by the latest version of BMW’s silky-smooth—and very muscular—turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, which is assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system to make 386 horsepower. Both engines are responsive and capable. The 4-series chassis benefits from a wider rear track, a specific suspension tune, a more aggressive steering calibration, and a lower centre of gravity in comparison to the 3-series sedan.

What's New for 2025?

Both engines have been updated for the 2025 model year and now include a 48V hybrid system for enhanced performance. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine found in the 430i has been significantly overhauled, adopting Miller cycle combustion and various other improvements. The vehicle's aesthetic appeal is also heightened with a facelift featuring new headlamps and refreshed front fascia, paired with matte chrome accents for the signature twin-kidney grilles.

The standout feature for M440i models and 340i models equipped with the Shadowline package is the introduction of BMW’s advanced laser taillamp technology that showcases illuminated glass fibre bundles. The colour spectrum available for these models is broadened with the addition of two new hues: a lustrous Cape York Green metallic and a vibrant Vegas Red metallic. Furthermore, customers can now opt for a carbon exterior accent package to further customize their vehicle's appearance.

Wheel enthusiasts will be delighted by two fresh 19-inch wheel designs debuting in 2025. The 440i comes standard with a dynamic 19-inch Y-spoke alloy configuration available in Jet Black or a striking bi-colour finish, an option also offered to 430i buyers. Additionally, there's a new bid for attention with the optional Y-Spoke alloy wheels in an elegant Midnight Grey bi-color.

Inside, the updates continue with a newly designed steering wheel that enhances driver interaction and comfort. Tech-wise, BMW's latest iDrive 8.5 system revolutionizes the cabin with more intuitive functionality. This system aims to simplify the user experience, resolving the complexities sometimes encountered with the former interface and system operations.

Both engine options come with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Updates galore for the 2.0-litre engine in the 430i variants, touching everything from the combustion chambers to the camshaft control, yet the power figures stay the same at 255 horsepower and a torque of 295 pound-feet. Meanwhile, the freshly designed 3.0-liter inline-six engine powering the 2025 M440i versions boasts a commanding 386 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, with the mild hybrid's starter generator contributing an additional 11 horsepower. The electric motor's main advantage shines through at lower speeds, delivering extra torque that enhances initial acceleration.
